Third Area of Operation Assisted in the Restoration of Severely Affected Areas in New Taipei City (August 10, 2015)

Mayor of New Taipei City Chu, Li-Luan, accompanied by Commander of Third Area of Operation Lieutenant General Ren, visited Gueishan Elementary School and collapsed sections of Provincial Highway No. 9A to examine disastrous conditions on July 9th.
Xindian District, New Taipei City was severely affected by Typhoon Soudelor. Today, Third Area of Operation continued to dispatch soldiers and equipment to Gueishan Township and helped the locals clean the campus and fallen trees, hoping that the public could resume their daily life as soon as possible.
In the morning, Mayor of New Taipei City Chu, Li-Luan visited Gueishan Activity Center for inspection. Later, Mayor Chu, accompanied by Commander of Third Area of Operation Lieutenant General Ren, visited Gueishan Elementary School and collapsed sections of Provincial Highway No. 9A to understand disastrous conditions caused by Typhoon Soudelor.
In the afternoon, Guandu Area Command was ordered to dispatch 40 soldiers to help Gueishan Elementary School clean sludge and move large waste, hoping that the school could resume the normal operation as soon as possible.
In this task, 310 soldiers from Taipei Combined Maintenance Depot, Battery, Maintenance Company, 53 Engineering Crop, 73 Electronic Engineering Crop, Guandu Area Command, New Taipei Reserve Command, and Special Forces Command were dispatched to assist Xindian District Office with post-disaster restoration.
In addition, due to Provincial Highway No. 9A buried by landslide, special forces soldiers, fire fighters, and special rescue personnel carried out the rescue in Xindian District Office and Chongchi Village on foot. In the afternoon, they escorted trapped residents to the level ground and completed the rescue task.
